Dr. Samuel L. Sharmat, MD, President of Sharmat Psychiatric Group, is a board certified psychiatrist well known for his abilities as a psychiatric diagnostician, treatment planner, and addictionologist. His intensive evaluation and diagnostic approach including genetics has been demonstrated to result in better outcomes and an improved sense of well-being for patients. Dr. Sharmat was the recipient of the 2016 Caron Medical Professional Award and served on the Executive Council of the New York County Psychiatric Society for 11 years. Additionally, he continues to serve as the consulting psychiatrist for leading mental health interventionists nationwide. Dr. Sharmat is well versed in complementary and precision treatments and always takes the least invasive approach possible.
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Maryellen Stephens, RN, MS, FPMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience treating patients from childhood through older adulthood. In particular, she has had intensive experience with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Complex Trauma and the various treatment modalities available to treat these diagnoses. She prefers taking a holistic approach whenever possible and also provides treatments based on Dr. Sharmat’s genetic approach to psychiatric diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Suzanne Eschenbach, MD, is a board certified psychiatrist who has helped a diverse group of patients over the years. She prioritizes establishing a collaborative relationship with the individuals she works with and takes a wholistic view of each patient. Dr. Eschenbach aims to to provide specialized and comprehensive treatment for mood disorders, OCD, PTSD, addiction, and psychotic disorders. She is excited to be working with Sharmat Psychiatric Group and incorporating psychiatric genetics into her work.
